8celera is a Vancouver-based service created by a CPA who was tired of chasing receipts himself. We’re not another generic app or accounting firm. We’re a specialized partner that handles the messy, time-consuming part of your workflow: receipt collection, digitization, data preparation and searchable database creation.

Why We Exist
Every accounting firm has the same enemy: receipts.
Stacks of paper. Scattered PDFs. Blurry phone photos. A client swears they “already sent it,” but month-end comes and you’re still chasing.
As Accountants, we felt that pain every single day. Receipts were everywhere—and never where we needed them.
The Struggle
I tried several online tools, even custom OCR.
They all promised automation. They all helped a little. But none solved the core problem.
OCR could read clean, digital receipts just fine. But:
A coffee-stained fuel slip? Useless.
A crooked iPhone photo at 2 a.m.? Garbage.
A receipt paid with Apple Pay or a personal credit card? Guesswork.
A multi-page PDF with one real receipt and five blanks? Wasted time.
So I still ended up:
Fixing totals manually
Hunting for missing GST/HST
Checking currencies
Matching transactions to statements
The truth hit me: you can’t take humans entirely out of receipts.
OCR alone isn’t enough.
The Birth of 8celera
I didn’t want to build “just another app.”
I wanted a complete workflow powered by AI, backed by human oversight, and designed for accountants like me.
So I built it:
Receipt collection — We pick up paper locally in Metro Vancouver and give clients dead-simple digital channels.
AI-powered cleanup & extraction — Images are enhanced, data pulled, and vendors normalized with smarter logic.
Human validation — Edge cases flagged and fixed, so you don’t inherit OCR mistakes.
GST/HST tagging & compliance — Built directly into the workflow.
Statement matching — AI matches receipts to bank/credit card statements, highlighting mismatches instantly.
Smart retrieval system — Beyond extraction, every document is indexed so you can retrieve receipts instantly for CRA audits, grant applications, or client queries.
Suddenly, I wasn’t chasing, fixing, or re-sorting.
My role became exactly what it should be: review exceptions, not process receipts.
